PRA GUIDE

How to verify a PRA invoice or restaurant receipt

A receipt is only a PRA receipt if PRA has a record of it. Anyone can check that in a minute, and a business should check its own receipts before an inspector does.

How do I verify a PRA invoice?

Open PRA's public eIMS page, type the invoice number printed on the receipt into the box labelled Enter Invoice No., and search. If the receipt was reported to PRA, the page shows the invoice with its date, items and tax.

The page is at e.pra.punjab.gov.pk/public/eims.xhtml. It needs no account and no login.

What does PRA's verification page show?

It shows the invoice number, the invoice ID and the date, then each line with its description, quantity, sale price, tax charge and total, followed by the gross total, the sales tax charged and the net total.

Compare those figures with the paper receipt. The amounts should match. A receipt that is found but shows a different total is as much a problem as one that is not found.

What should a valid PRA receipt have on it?

According to the reports of 10 August 2026, a valid receipt carries the business name, the address, a receipt number and the PRA QR code.

The receipt number is the part you need for verification on PRA's page.

What does it mean if the invoice is not found?

It means PRA has no record of that receipt under that number. Either the sale was not reported, the number was typed wrongly, or the receipt was reported a moment ago and has not appeared yet.

Type the number again carefully before drawing a conclusion. If a receipt you issued yourself cannot be found, check whether your system is still pointed at the sandbox. Invoices sent to the test environment do not reach the live records, which makes this a common cause of a genuine receipt that PRA cannot find.

Is a kitchen order slip or an estimate a PRA receipt?

No. The August 2026 reports said kitchen order slips, unpaid bills and similar documents cannot be given to a customer in place of a tax receipt.

The test is simple. If the document has no number that PRA's page will find, it is not the receipt.

How often should a business check its own receipts?

Check a few receipts every week, from every branch. It takes a minute and it is the same test an inspector or a customer can run.

  • Pick receipts from different days and different counters.
  • Check one from each branch, since each branch has its own POS ID.
  • Check again after any change to your software, your token or your internet connection.

A missing invoice is costly. Our guide to PRA penalties sets out the amounts.
